David Beckham sparks safety debate after letting six-year-old daughter Harper drive a golf cart

The former footballer was criticised after wife Victoria shared a video - but others thanked them for sharing the sweet moment

A parenting debate kicked off online after David Beckham let six-year-old daughter Harper drive a golf cart.

In a sweet black-and-white video clip, little Harper beams with excitement as she sits on her dad's knee to steer the buggy.

But a few people told the couple off after Victoria shared it online.

She posted it on Instagram, saying: "Someone loves her daddy! #drivingmissharper kisses x @davidbeckham"

Comments started flooding in immediately, and some predicted the argument that was to come.

One fan said: "Love it! Someone will jump on the band wagon and say it's dangerous watch this space!"

"I think you knew this video would be controversial," said another.

The Beckhams were told off by some fans, who claimed letting Harper drive the cart was irresponsible.

One said: "Take that down before social services came to take your child for negligence and endangerment in US"

"Not very smart thing to do guys," another commented.

While one said: "very irresponsible david very"

One fan immediately jumped to their defence, saying: "WTH? They were driving a golf cart, for crying out loud. Not a car and it's not dangerous at all."

Not everyone was negative about the video though.

Some thanked the famous couple for sharing the moment and said it reminded them of their own childhood as they'd done the very same thing with their own fathers.

One said: "This is something only daddy’s will do my heart is jumping"

Another wrote: "What a touching moment between father and daughter. Thanks for sharing!"

And another commented: "Did the same with my dad!"

Mirror Online has contacted David and Victoria's representatives for comment.

Meanwhile, the couple's eldest son Brooklyn sparked rumours that he's engaged to girlfriend Chloe Moretz after they posted a picture of themselves wearing matching rings.

Chloe and Brooklyn, who rekindled their romance over the summer, look more in love than ever in the arty snap. Fans rushed to Instagram to congratulate the couple - but it appears they may just be sporting matching signet rings.

The pair dated briefly in 2014 before splitting and then rekindling their romance after Brooklyn moved to New York to do a photography course.

Speaking about Brooklyn last year, she said: "My boyfriend is a huge support. I mean, don't get me wrong, I don't need a man for anything, but when I'm feeling bad about myself, he's like, 'Stop. Look at what you say in interviews. Look at what you stand for. Listen to your own words, because you're as beautiful as you say you are!'"
